Can not find a belt for a central machinery 1227 wood lathe
December 04, 2009 10:16PM
I have an older Central Machinery wood lathe that needs a belt. The original is about 18' total length and is round. It is made out of hard rubber probably neoprene and is about 3/8" in diameter. I've tried numerous tool companies and belt shops etc. but the closest I have come is finding an O ring the same size. This material is too soft and stretches when it heats up. I can't get in touch directly with Central Machinery. Harbor Freight handles the new version of this lathe and they have been no help at all in finding a belt for this older machine. One option I might have is to change the pulleys to accept a newer model belt. Any ideas that you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.
