Hi all,
Newbie here so not too knowledgeable in this Field as yet. I had done very little lathe work since i left school
some 29 years ago but acquired a very early Myford super 7 just over a year ago for £50. It came with faceplates,
and a large set of change wheels. I acquired a HBM Quick Change Tool Post and a 3 jaw self centering chuck +
a 4 jaw independant wich is just as well because the HBM 3 jaw was of very poor quality. Infact i took the 1st
one back because of a fault and got blamed for doing it and then came away with another even worse than the 1st.
After quickly learning all about the Myford after buying the Manual handbook and countless hours online i found
that the Myford was what can best be described as Goosed. However! I still managed to make some very useful
stuff on it from Pulleys to steering bosses for customized cars amongst other things.
The bed is quite worn and a Taper cut down a bar is impossible to cure.
However! I`ve Just acquired a Harrison T300, The Teaching version of the popular M300.
It has a Gap bed and a screw cutting gearbox and is in excellant condition having come from a Demolished school
& cost me an old Tig welder & £480.
I`m looking to buy a few things for it such as a Quick Change Toolpost, 4 jaw independent, & maybe have the
Burnerd chuck its come with seviced by them.
I`ll also be adding an Inverter drive as it`s 3 phase and though i have it at work Tempory with 3 phase supply i want
it at home on Single Phase.
With this Lathe, i intend to get into model engineering as well as anything it`s capable of, provided! i have the correct
accessorys capable of the job.
It`s possible that i will be adding a Tom Senior Vertical milling machine with it from the same source wich is even more
mint that the Harrison.
I will be Posting as time goes on so any info will be very appreciated.
Very Best Regards, Fred.
