Henry Jannes here, I just purchased my 1st lathe for my garage, It is a Standard Modern with a 17" swing and 54" between centers... I've been a Machinist/Fitter for the past 16 years and am happy to finally have a garage large enough to accomodate a few peices of equipment. I'm in search of a 240 volt single phase motor, preferably 7.5hp, but 5 would do (1800 rpm). I don't see any newer posts on this board but I'm hoping that will change........................................Also would like to get my mitts on a manual for this machine................

Hello and welcome from sunny Andalucia (Seville)my interests are steam engines and astronomy. iIhave a Clarke C3 mini lathe nice machine apart from the speedcontrol which is rubbish. Have had to modify to belt drive using the pulleys and motor from a cheap pillar drill ,to do this i had to forsake the screwcutting side so now i have a plain lathe all goode fun. The up side is that with the bits left over i made a nice tapping machine, liiving out here poses many problems for materials as Brit suppliers seem to add quite unreasonable sums for p&p!!! Current project is Tich 3.1/2" just starting the boiler.hope to speak ?? to someone soon
